Yes, it's a silly name, It's really Home Depot's fault. While thinking of a name for the business their commercial came on with the tag line, "how doers get more done", and it hit me; I've always been a doer. Even as a kid if I wanted a piece of furniture, I'd make a plan and build it.
While some talk about a project, I research, plan, and do.
I'm Kevin Surgeon, the Doer Dude. I’ve been fixing and building since I can remember. Growing up my dad fixed everything so I didn’t know you could “call a guy” when things broke. Building and fixing things was just what you did. If it broke around the house, I fixed it. That eventually led to a career as a broadcast engineer. For almost 30 years I designed, built, and maintained radios studios and transmitter sites. In 2020 with the encouragement of friends I decided to put my 40 plus years of repairing and building to use for more than just family and friends. At this stage in life, I know my limitations and abilities. I don't start projects unless I can see the finish line.
I also make and offer custom wood products. I've been working with wood for almost 50 years, but I only started calling myself a woodworker 20 years ago. A wood worker pays close attention to the small details of a piece to bring out the true beauty in the wood. I'll be glad to discuss projects you may have.
